Disco Photos Part 6 - Pics shot for ProMo use |
![]() This is the way to get jiggy with it: grab the smokemachine remote, set level to max and push the button ! |
![]() Grab your headset... |
![]() ...put the needle to the record... |
![]() And you're off ! |
![]() Michael and Joakim getting jiggy with it |
![]() The mother of all vinyl record players: The Technics SL1200/1210 Mark 2 ! As seen on MTV. |
![]() Michael and Joakim. Still getting jiggy with it, now the gobo has joined in too ! |
![]() Jiggy ! |
![]() Michael making his moves on the mixing console while Joakim operates the light sequencer (LSQ) |
![]() Fancy some scratching, ey ? |
![]() Now kids, with this knob we could mechanically adjust the so-called "needle pressure" on the vinyl player. |
![]() Almost a slight religious touch to this picure |
![]() Peter doing the (in)famous spinning LP trick. This actually rendered some records unusable.. |
![]() The diabolic box: This is the good old backup for the light sequencer. An analog light organ. Later proved unnecessary due to the good performance of the LSQ. |
![]() This is the analog backup unit for the stroboscopes. We used this a lot before we got the strobe functionality integrated into the LSQ. |
![]() Tadaa: the full view of the diabolic box with the backup systems. It also holds the important A/D-converter for trigging lights on drum beats. |
![]() Strobes to the left, A/D converter on the right. Note that the text on the bottom left corner reads "Nokia Elektroniikka". Today known for cellular phone systems. We found this baby on the scrapyard. |
![]() On top: A box with manual switches for spots, etc. Below: the diabolic box again. |
![]() Closeup of box with manual switches. This box was eventually replaced with a computer also. But in the good old days we had REAL SWITCHES for REAL MEN ! |
![]() The Hand flipping the "Sweep lights" switch. Yeah ! |
![]() The heart of Xenon Disco. Our subwoofer amplifier. Delivered above 1 kW. Built from discarded electronics found on the scrapyard. It was the best! (And the heaviest) |
![]() Joakim at the turntables. We all smoked a lot at that time as you can see. |
